Giuseppe Nunnari, MD, Ph.D, MPH

Prof. Giuseppe Nunnari earned his medical degree with Magna cum Laude honors from the University of Catania in 1996. He specialized in Infectious Diseases in 1999 and completed his Ph.D. in Microbiology in 2005. Additionally, he holds a Master’s in Public Health from Thomas Jefferson University, USA, where he gained extensive experience in HIV-1 pathogenesis and latent disease. Prof. Nunnari has held prominent positions at esteemed institutions, including Thomas Jefferson University and the University of Catania. Prof. Giuseppe Nunnari is a distinguished expert in infectious diseases with additional proficiency in public health and antimicrobial stewardship. He is a Full Professor of Infectious Diseases at both the University of Messina and the University of Catania. Since 2018, he has been the Editor-in-Chief of the journal “Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine.” Prof. Nunnari has authored over 250 papers indexed in PubMed, significantly contributing to advancements in the field of infectious diseases.

Giordano Madeddu, MD

Prof. Giordano Madeddu graduated with honors in Medicine and Surgery in 1999 and became a specialist in Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine with honors at the University of Sassari in 2003. In 2008, he was appointed as a researcher in Infectious Diseases at the Department of Clinical and Experimental Medicine at the University of Sassari, and in 2016, he was promoted to Associate Professor.

Prof. Giordano Madeddu has a comprehensive teaching portfolio, offering courses in Infectious Diseases across various medical and dental disciplines at the University of Sassari. He is a member of the scientific committee for several research groups and contributes to the Panel of the Italian Guidelines on antiretroviral treatment and the clinical and diagnostic management of people living with HIV. From 2015 to 2018, he was a member of the ECDC expert panel on interventions for communicable diseases prevention and control in prisons and other custodial settings. His research focuses on non-infectious comorbidities in HIV patients, the epidemiology of HIV, and infectious diseases in prison settings. Prof. Madeddu has authored over 250 publications and currently has an h-index of 37.
